Manchester CIty winger Ferran Torres finally looks set to seal his move to Barcelona.
The move has made City fans hopeful that the money raised could be spent on finally bringing a top-class centre-forward to the club, although their hopes of signing Borussia Dortmund goal-machine Erling Haaland may have been dashed.
The club could secure a replacement for Torres for just £40m from a Premier League rival, however, after doubling their money on the Spanish winger.
But City may also be set to lose out in the race to sign a young sensation.
Here are all the latest Man City transfer rumours.
City ‘trumped’ for youngster
Manchester City and Chelsea have been “trumped” in their attempts to sign Ghanaian youngster Karim Dermane, according to reports.
The youngster currently plays for Ghanaian side West African Football Academy [WAFA] Sporting Club but appears set to seal a move to Dutch club Feyenoord, according to Feyenoord Transfermarkt [via Sport Witness ].
It is claimed the player has already passed a medical in Rotterdam having had a trial at the club back in September.
Torres replacement ‘found’
City could use the money raised by selling Ferran Torres to Barcelona to buy his replacement from a Premier League rival.
And now the Manchester Evening News reports that West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen would be the “perfect” replacement for the departing forward – and that he could be available for £40m.
The report states: “One of Bowen’s most appealing traits beyond what he offers on the ball is his work ethic off it. He’s best summarised as selfless, energetic and aggressive in terms of leading a press from the front.
These traits are essential for any attacker if they want to thrive at City, given how aggressively Guardiola’s men press their opponents from the front.”
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland would be better suited to playing for Manchester United rather than City, it has been claimed.
Journalist Christian Falk claims the player would “fit perfectly” at United, while City boss Pep Guardiola would probably prefer to sign a forward who suits his system slightly better than Haaland would.
He told BILD : “You have to say that Manchester United are following developments themselves, including the topic of Haaland.
“I’ve been talking about City for a while now, and of course, Haaland’s name is always on the agenda.
“You have to be honest, though, with Pep Guardiola and Haaland, I don’t think he really wants this striker if he can get another one because the system of play is designed differently.
“At United, Haaland fits like a glove, as our experts have said. Everything fits United perfectly.”
