Strictly Come Dancing stars appear to be in high spirits ahead of this evening’s final as they have been seen smiling as they had a meal together.
Dan Walker, who was eliminated in the quarter final, shared the snap showing himself with Katie McGlynn, Adam Peaty, Rhys Stephenson, Judi Love, AJ Odudu, Sara Davies and Ugo Monye.
AJ Odudu, who was forced to withdraw from the final with her partner Kai Widdrington yesterday, took the selfie snap.
Stars from this year’s show who were not seen in the snap included finalists Rose Ayling-Ellis and John Whaite.
Also missing was Robert Webb, who has withdrawn from the show on medical advice, and Tilly Ramsay, who has tested positive for Covid.
Dan wrote in the caption: “The night before the big one #StrictlyBubble.”
The contestants then rushed to the comment section to send each other well-wishes.
Ugo said: “Twas the night before the @bbcstrictly final, good people all around.”
Rhys added: “Looking like a bunch of uni students celebrating their first Christmas together in halls.”
Dragons’ Den star Sara also shared a picture on her Instagram Story of her and Loose Women star Judi FaceTiming Tilly, after she missed out on the meal.
“We FaceTimed our Tilly so she could still partake in hotel club from isolation…” alongside a sad face emoji.
AJ said she was “deeply upset” after being forced to pull out of the show following doctor’s advice about a torn ligament in her right ankle she sustained during training,.
After her departure from the show was revealed AJ paid tribute to Kai.
She said in a statement: “Learning to dance over the last 13 weeks has been an incredible honour and to do it alongside someone as special, patient and devoted as Kai is something I’ll treasure forever.”
Her dance partner was quick to pay homage to AJ.
Kai said in response: “I’ve been absolutely honoured to get to dance with the incredible AJ Odudu for the last few months and although neither of us wanted our journey to end this way, AJ’s health and safety are by far the most important things.”
AJ confirmed she’ll be at tonight’s Strictly Come Dancing finale to cheer on the other contestants.
Speaking to Claudia Winkleman on BBC Radio 2, AJ said: “I, of course, would love to be on the dancefloor with them tonight but I can’t wait to cheer them on with one leg through lots of tears.”
The Strictly final is aired at 7.10pm on BBC One.
