The singer, 29, shocked onlookers as she arrived on the iconic event’s red carpet – twice.
In the first instance, she stunned in a black floor-length gown with a sequin leopard-print pattern.
But she quickly changed and reappeared showcasing a solid gold mask as she spoke to reporters at the event.
For her second outfit she donned a beautiful Schiaparelli off-the-shoulder dress and covered her face with the striking gold mask and black veil.
She completed the look with flamboyant gold earrings in the design of an eye with blingy fingers hanging down.
The jewellery matched her long metallic finger nails which stood out from her black sleeves.
Her look prompted a mixed response on social media with some fans loving it and others mocking the outfit.

One Twitter user wrote: “Cardi B is already a fashion icon,” while another agreed and said: “Cardi girl, you look so good.”
A third penned: “I think it’s cardi b, I got scared at first but I like the dress.”
However, jokes were had at her expense with one user commenting: “Let’s be real C-3PO did it first.”
She promised reporters that there would be several more outfit changes to come throughout the nights as the best in the business looked to land the gongs.
Cardi B had previously said: “When I received the invite to host the AMAs, I was so excited. I’m ready to bring my personality to the AMAs stage!”
Speaking to Variety, the rapper revealed that although she is the host for the night, it’s more about the stars who are performing.
She said: “I’m the host, but I feel like the performers and their performances, it’s like their night, you know what I’m saying?
“Like when you perform, it’s your night. And I’m just going to be myself. That’s it. There are going to be certain things that I read on the teleprompter, but I’m just going to freestyle it because I don’t like feeling like I’m talking like a robot. I just want to be myself.”
She also revealed that she can’t wait for the likes of Bad Bunny and Olivia Rodrigo to perform as she praised all stars in what she called a “good lineup”.
