Emmerdale actor turned director Reece Dinsdale has announced he has quit the soap for a second time.
Earlier this year, fans of the long-running show previously watched as Reece’s character Paul Ashdale’s met his very dramatic end on screen with the gambling addict killed on his wedding day in a nasty accident.
The actor then returned to Emmerdale, this time behind the camera, as he directed scenes for the soap.
However, Reece has now cut ties with the show once again as he shared a last look of the Woolpack pub and village square to Instagram to reveal his latest departure.
“My final Emmerdale episode (for now) is the first up of tonight’s two.
“Thanks to those of you who sent me messages and tweets saying how much you’d enjoyed them.
“It’s a learning curve and I’m looking forward to doing more for your entertainment in 2022.
“Enjoy this evening’s show x!”
But the actor’s departure didn’t go unnoticed as fans commented on the post, with one writing: “Just love seeing your name and knowing who you are!”
Another posted: “Your eps have been fab, Reece, and you deserve praise for the hard work you have to put in (alongside everyone else involved) to get the eps to our TV screens. I will certainly be watching!”
“You always bring quality to the episodes Reece!” another shared.
And a fourth added: “Have really enjoyed them. I hope you get the opportunity to do more directing.”
But as the director’s exit is commiserated, his characters departure has been welcomed after sinister scenes when Paul was discovered to be abusing his son Vinny.
But after Vinny’s girfriend Liv confronted him over the violent beatings, Paul attacked her.
And the dramatic exit ended as he tried to attack her more and Jimmy King crashed his van through the barn wall and sent them both flying.
One viewer wrote: “It’s about time Paul was stopped. He’s made Vinny’s life miserable for far too long. #Emmerdale”
A second said: “Good riddance Paul! #Emmerdale”
Another added: “Bye #Paul l it wasn’t nice knowing you”
Soap fans may also recognise Reece from his role as Gail Platt’s husband Joe McIntyre in Coronation Street from 2008 until 2010.
