Julian Clary, who was a finalist on 2004’s series of Strictly Come Dancing has spoken out, hinting the show could be a lot more controlled than we thought.
The 62 year old was a contestant in the second series of the hit dance show and made it all the way to the final with his pro partner Lilia Kopylova.
However the pair eventually placed third, while EastEnders star Jill Halfpenny was crowned the winner of the series.
But, he isn’t sure if celebs reach the final due to technique alone.
Julian told The Times : “It was all done on the public vote then and I don’t think they wanted me in the final.
“I wasn’t very good. There were better dancers than me. Now they have the dance-off thing.
“They’ve sussed a way to control it.”
Judi faced Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty in the dance off where all of the judges chose to put Adam through to the next week, waving goodbye to Judi.
When it was Motsi Mabuse’s time to vote she said: “Well I have to say that dance-off was really great, it was great to watch both couples dancing on the dancefloor.
“The decision was made for me, so I have to say that the couple I will be saving is Adam and Katya.”
Fans were left confused when Motsi insinuated that she had been told to save Adam and Katya Jones.
One viewer tweeted: “‘The decision was made for me…’ By whom? What did @MOTSI_MABUSE mean by that?!”
Another added: “Oof, Motsi’s phrasing there – ‘the decision was made for me’ – isn’t gonna help the conspiracies that think the whole thing is fixed.”
However, it is possible that Motsi just meant that it was obvious that Adam had danced better in the dance off against Judi.
Judi had to miss the week previous due to contracting vovid but her partner Graziano Di Prima continued dancing on the show as this complies with coronavirus guidelines right now.
The pair performed their cha cha to Physical by Olivia Newton-John which they were supposed to do before the star got covid.
However, fans were shocked that Adam and Katya were in the bottom two as well.
One fan took to Twitter to say: “What! Adam! Surely that’s a mistake! I can’t believe it,” as another added: “Noooooooo, Save @adam_peaty and his beautiful face at all costs!!!”
A third person wrote: “I don’t think Adam deserves to be in the bottom 2.”
But one pointed out that none of the contestants are safe, as they said: “People thought Adam & Katya were safe, as they were mid-table. That’s the most dangerous place to be.”
