TOWIE’s Joey Turner responds to fans after posting ‘concerning’ snaps

Former TOWIE star Joey Turner has responded to fans expressing their concern after he posted a series of snaps to Instagram.

The 20-year-old shared a number of black and white photos that revealed his transformation after leaving the ITVBe show.

In one of the pictures, Joey posed with a black ribbon around his naked chest with a mask covering his eyes.

Another photo showed Joey wearing ripped tights and a crop top while glaring into the camera’s lens.

Speaking out for the first time since sharing his modelling snaps, a defiant Joey told fans: “I am not your role model.”

The former reality star, 20, assured fans he was ‘okay’

In a statement he said: “If I’m honest I’m not phased by the comments, I just want those who are about me to know I’m okay.

“I don’t care about the comments simply because it’s hard to care for the opinions of people that know nothing about me, my diet, my metabolism or my medical history with my weight.

“I’m a 20-year-old student, I’m not on TV. I’m a student like any other and I am not your role model, so if you want someone to look up to I suggest putting someone else on a pedestal because I am not him.”

The star, who left TOWIE four months ago, had been inundated with messages from concerned followers over his most recent Instagram posts.

“TOWIE friends please check he is ok,” urged another.

“I’ve applied to Manchester unis to study fashion.”

In a statement to fans, Joey explained why he was leaving after nearly three years.

“I have decided to take a step back and create a new path for myself,” he said.

“I started the show when I was 17 years old after being approached by producers asking if I was interested in being on TV.

“Like any other 17-year-old would have done, I said yes and so I quit studying and started filming.

“Even though I was basically a child when I started I have had the most fun experience and made so many amazing friends.

“I am incredibly grateful for the entire experience and now it’s time for the next chapter.”
