Maryland star wide receiver Dontay Demus Jr. was carted off after suffering a serious leg injury in Friday night’s Big Ten game against No. 5 Iowa.
Demus was hurt as he fumbled on a kickoff return in the first half. It appeared his leg twisted in two different directions. He remained on the field for a few minutes as he received medical attention.
Demus chose to be positive as he was carted off, shouting “I’m coming back!” repeatedly to the Maryland sideline. The crowd at Maryland Stadium gave him an ovation.
Twitter was flooded with support for the senior receiver as posters sent wishes for a speedy recovery. But fans haven’t been as hopeful as Demus about “coming back” soon. He is doubtful to return to the game and his status for the season is unknown as the severity of his injury has not been announced.
Prayers up for Tay 🙏
